A new but rather conventional idea

O.K., it may not have the WOW factor, but Mary Duffy mentioned in her facebook "25 things" list that she loved Aruba.  When I posted something like, "maybe we cousins should go to Aruba," both Kathleen and Mary were enthusiastic.   So....is there anything really WRONG with a lovely Caribbean vacation with some of your favorite relatives?

Are we thinking fall 09? won't that be during hurricane season.

Don't go by me... I'll go anywhere the group decides. I've always wanted to go to Aruba, but for those who like to be busy I doubt that there's much to do. Mary will have to provide more info- she's got a timeshare there and goes every year! Hurricane season on the East Coast goes from June through November, so it's hard to avoid. Kathleen

I think they are below the typical hurricane area - I went to Aruba last year. There are some great resorts. The one that I stayed at was just okay, but there were definitely better ones. The weather is typically gorgeous, sometimes breezy. I heard from some people that live there year round that there is a hot and sticky period during September and October. It would be a beach vacation - so yes, not much more to do than relax, take advantage of water sports, a little shopping, etc. I'm sure we would have lots of fun though!
PS - there are casinos in every hotel.

Christy is right not much to do but relax and enjoy the sun.So another idea is back to Ireland to see the other areas we did not get to, or as Laura suggested how about Rome???Lots to do and see.
